NY State Safe Boating Course to be Held at Cold Spring Firehouse

The Village of Cold Spring Police Department with the Cold Spring Fire Company No.1 is sponsoring a New York State Safe Boating Course to be given at the Cold Spring Firehouse, located on Main Street at Church Street, on Saturday 29 March 2008 starting at 9am until approximately 5pm. The course is free and open to all young adults from 10 to 18 years of age and all adults 18 years old and above. A ten dollar ($10.00) registration fee is payable by adults only to New York State upon the successful completion of the course. The NYS Registration fee is free to young adults.

The course will cover all aspects of safe boating including Personal Water Craft (jetskis) and is required to operate PWCs on the waterways of New York State. Parental consent is required for young adults to take the course. Pre-registration is required and class size is limited to approximately 30 persons. Participants must bring pens or pencils with them and course material will be distributed that day. A test will be given and completed upon the end of the instruction.

For inquiries and pre registration call the Cold Spring Police Department at 265-3407, extension 36, to leave a message with a name, age and telephone where you can be contacted. For further information on boating go to the NYS Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation website at www.nysparks.com.
