Don't Miss Putnam Highlands Audubon's Dinner This Year

Last year disappointed individuals were turned away from the very popular Putnam Highlands Audubon Society Dinner due to rapid over-subscription of tickets. This year's event promises to be every bit as fascinating, fun and palate-pleasing.

Held within the relaxed, rustic Highland Lodge of the Taconic Outdoor Education Center, diners raved about the buffet prepared by the TOEC staff, as they continued to enjoy the program. The delectable buffet will be expanded this year. Entrees will include Chicken Marsala, a steak dish, Penne alla Vodka, salad, rolls, vegetable, dessert and coffee.

The 7th Annual Event will be held Saturday, April 5, with the Social Hour beginning at 5pm with opening remarks by the special invited guest, Congressman John Hall, followed by the buffet dinner and program.

At 7pm, Bill Evans from the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology's Avian Flight Call Research, will present his fascinating findings on "The Environment Effect on Avian Nocturnal Migration". Mr. Evans extensive research on night migration and its hazards has been covered by "The New York Times", "New Scientist", "NPR", "BBC", "PBS", "Science" among other publications.

Follow the program will be a "Do You Know This Bird?" game with chirping Audubon bird prizes and a raffle drawing including gift certificates from "Art to Wear", "Charlie Brown's Steakhouse", "The Country Goose", "The Tavern" (Garrison Golf Club), "Fishkill All Sports", "Hudson Valley Outfitters", "Riverview Cafe", to list a few. The PHAS wants to thank these wonderful community establishments for their very generous support. In addition, Karen Riner, is most graciously offering an enlarged, framed version of the dramatic photograph of the "Great Blue Heron" which appears on the dinner invitations.

The Taconic Outdoor Education Center is on Route 301 east of Route 9 along Dennytown Road in Cold Spring.

Tickets for adults are $32, children under 12 years $20. RSVP immediately if you are interested by email: swixblue@verizon.net or by phone to Paul Kuznia (845) 265- 3773. Due to the rush for tickets, reservations are on a first response, first on the list basis. However to assure reservations, checks payable to the PHAS, POB 292, Cold Spring, NY 10516 must be received by March 29, 2008.
