Pitching In to Keep Main Street Attractive
Dear Editor:

I've been a resident of Cold Spring for many years, and now, my husband and I have a business on Main Street, so, I surely have a vested interest in the trash pick up on Main Street during week ends and holiday week-ends. So often, I have been tempted to just go out and empty a trash barrel and bring the bag home to my own home to await for regular pick up day. Too crazy? What would people think? Would the officials mind? Perhaps the idea is too "Small Town" but, well....we Are small town!

As a short term, stop gap idea for a solution, is this simple idea too simple? I know for sure that I would empty an overflowing trash barrel in a minute if it means keeping Main Street attractive. No overtime, just a bit more trash on regular pick up day. I think there are many residents/business owners and renters that would pitch in to keep Main Street cleaner on week ends.

This suggestion is not to mean that a bigger, better idea is not urgently needed, but until the Village /County can begin to pick up the trash tab, perhaps we interested citizens can begin to pick up the trash.
