Premiere of Film Written and Produced byJohn Pielmeier at Depot Theatre

On Sunday, March 30, The Capture of the Green River Killer, a television miniseries written and produced by Garrison resident John Pielmeier, will be screened for the public at 2:30pm. Admission is free, though a donation to benefit the Depot Theatre is suggested. Mr. Pielmeier and his wife, Irene O'Garden, both of whom are featured actors in the film, will be present to answer questions. The film is not suitable for children.

The Capture of the Green River Killer is closely based on the true story of the nearly twenty-year search for a Seattle serial murderer who targeted young prostitutes. Narrated by Hel, who is sixteen when the film begins, it tracks Hel's troubled home-life and her descent into prostitution while she struggles with questions of fate and choice, hope and despair. Simultaneously the film follows Dave Reichert, a King County Detective assigned to the case, as he grapples with an overwhelming number leads, false and true, while trying to maintain his deep personal faith and convictions in the face of a relentlessly grim and seemingly unending series of deaths. In spite of the cynicism surrounding him, Dave refuses to look at any of these women as "throwaway victims," while Hel herself tries desperately to view her own life as anything but "throwaway," even when reviewing it from the other side of the grave.

The broadcast premiere of the miniseries will be on the Lifetime Movie Network on March 30 (Part One) and March 31 (Part Two). Check your listings for times. Or see it commercial free at the Depot. Reserve your seats by calling 424-3900. (Tickets not picked up 2:20 will be released.)
