Teatown Announces Annual Plant Sale & Workshops

Teatown Lake Reservation's spring tradition - its ever popular two-day plant sale - will reflect Teatown's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability in the Hudson Hills and Highlands region. The "Nature-Friendly Plant Sale & Workshops" will be held rain or shine on Friday, May 9th from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday, May 10 from 9 am to 2 pm at Teatown, 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining. The sale will feature unique and hard-to-find varieties of wildflowers, perennials, herbs, annuals and vegetables. A special section will highlight native plants of the Hudson Hills and Highlands. Teatown will host a series of mini-workshops on a variety of "green" subjects and gardening techniques, including the how-to's of gardening that will provide healthy, sustainable habitats for birds, butterflies, bees, animals and humans.

Plant enthusiasts will want to take advantage of the First Pick Sale on Friday, May 9, from 4 to 7pm. For an admission fee of $5 per person, gardeners will have the opportunity to get "first pick" among the plants, flowers, grasses and shrubs on sale.

The Plant Sale continues on Saturday, May 10, from 9am to 2pm. Admission to Saturday's sale is free. Workshops on various naturefriendly gardening topics will be held from 10 am to 12 noon. Come learn from the experts as they share their knowledge about native plants, sustainable practices and landscape conservation.

For more information or directions, please call Teatown at (914) 762-2912 ext. 110, or visit www.teatown.org.
