Judge Sweeny Appointed Chairman of County's Law Library
Judge John W, Sweeny, Jr., Putnam County Senior Resident Justice, has been appointed by the Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York to be Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Putnam County Supreme Court Law Library. The Court system libraries are charged with the responsibility to provide professional library services to aid in the just and timely resolution of all matters before the courts. The Board is responsible to see that access is provided for attorneys and the public and to communicate to them the library services that are available.
Judge Sweeny has stated that he is looking forward to resuming this position, especially with the library in the new Putnam County Courthouse. He stated his is gratified that the library is now providing expanded services and internet access for attorneys and particularly programs for those litigants who are self represented.
Judge Sweeny is also an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court.
