Cold Spring Lions in Search of Service-Leading 'Mothers of the Year'

The Cold Spring Lions Club is seeking nominations from the Phillipstown community for the first "Mother of The Year" awards. Residents are asked to select maternal figures that represent "the importance of mother to family and community."

Winners will be decided by members of the Lions Club from four categories of submissions received: Kindergarten to third grades; fourth grades to seventh grades; eight grades to twelfth grades and an adult category. Those making submissions in each of the categories will be asked to explain why their mother or maternal figure exemplifies service to family and community. Winners will be hosted at a special dinner on May 12 at the Plumbush Inn on Route 9D.

Nominations forms will be printed in the next two editions of the Putnam County News Recorder. Deadline for submissions will April 18. Those interested in making a nomination can also contact Cathy Greenough at the FoodTown office, where applications will be made available.

Residents submitting nominees for the "Mother of The Year" awards are also asked to make a suggested donation of $10 to the Lions Club with each submission. Donations will be used to fund the charitable works of the Cold Spring Lions Club, which for over 50 years has been providing community service and works of charity for our residents and those in need.
