An Appreciation of Butterfield Library
To the Editor:
As a resident of Wappingers, I had never taken the opportunity to appreciate the Butterfield Library. It wasn't until I started teaching at Haldane High School that I became aware of the variety of programs and activities that occur on a regular basis in this small town library.
The women who work there are friendly and helpful. They truly bring this library to life, making it more of a community center than simply a library.
Since I have begun spending afternoons in this library, I have seen children's craft activities, students being tutored, holiday dances and a host of other activities. The Butterfield Library is always buzzing with activity.
That's not to say that it isn't a pleasant place to simply sit quietly and read a good book. My personal favorite spot is in one of the comfortable chairs by the beautifully carved fireplace, right in the lobby. Please continue to support your local library, as it really is a gem!
