Sylvia Lyons

Sylvia Lyons, age 75, lifelong resident of Cold Spring, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.

Born in Cold Spring on June 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Rose M. (Julian) Engelbride.

Mrs. Lyons, a parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, was a secretary for Texaco's Research Center in Glenham, NY before leaving to become a homemaker and raise her family.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick E. Lyons, Jr. of the home address, with whom she just celebrated 45 years of marriage. She is also survived by two sons, Mark G. and Carol Hopper of Cold Spring, and Thomas J. Hopper, Jr., one brother, Edward F. Engelbride of Cold Spring, one sister, Elizabeth Lusk of Cold Spring, and three grandchildren, Kelly, Mark Philip, and Olivia. One sister, Marion Calvert predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 29 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring, followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends called at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cor. of Parrott and Pine Sts. (21 Parrott St.) Cold Spring, NY on Friday, March 28. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Lyons' name to Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 364, Cold Spring, NY 10516
