NY State Safe Boater Certificates Awarded to Local Residents After Completion of CS Police Dept. Safe Boating Course
The Village of Cold Spring Police Department with the Cold Spring Fire Company No.1 sponsored a New York State Safe Boating Course at the Cold Spring Firehouse, on Saturday March 29, 2008. The course was free and open to all young adults from 10 to 18 years of age and all adults 18 years old and above.
Investigator Bill Bujarski and Police Officer Rob Russell of the Cold Spring Police Department taught the course, covering all aspects of safe boating including PWCs or Personal Water Craft (jet-skis). A New York State Safe Boaters Certificate is required to operate PWCs on the waters of the state. The attendees viewed an instructional video reviewing the necessary equipment, rules of road, boating courtesy, boating safety and responsibilities, as well as the results of boating accidents and injuries. Discussions and questions were reviewed after each chapter.
Gavin Brower, Thomas Cervone, Daniel Wojtusiak, Mark Ford, Christopher Rowley, Vincent Cimino and Laura Watson attended and completed the 8 hour course after successfully taking an exam and receiving their Safe Boater Certificate.
