Pi Day at Putnam Valley High School

One of the favorite dates in veteran PVHS math teacher Jerri Cohen's academic year is March 14, because the numbers 3 and 14 are the first three in the infinite string of digits that define pi which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. March 14 is also Albert Einstein's birthday.

In this photo, members of the Putnam Valley High School Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society enjoy a piece of (pizza) pi(e) on 3/14 at exactly 1:59:26. They are wearing the pi T-shirts that they designed for the occasion.

Back: Jackson Gilman- Forlini, Victoriea Hamilton, Megan Mahoney, Tom Ricci. Main Row: Nick Legrady, Hannah Schmidt, Kristina Vucetic, Shannon Brown, Katie Mias, Janelle Herelle. Kneeling: Tina Wallach and Allie Huyghe. Others came by later to have their "piece of Pi(e)."
