Assemblywoman Galef to Host Panel of Experts on Small Business Start-Up and Growth Opportunities in Putnam and Westchester Counties
In order to help her constituents gain economic self-sufficiency and prosperity through entrepreneurship, Assemblywoman Sandy Galef is hosting a forum targeted at reinvigorating the economy by helping people with small business start-up and growth on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 7:30am at the Cortlandt Town Hall, One Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor.
Assemblywoman Galef will be joined by Anne Janiak, Executive Director of the Women's Enterprise Development Center Inc.; Michael Jones- Bey, Executive Director of the Division of Minority and Women Business Development for New York State; Jerry Klein, CEO of Mahopac National Bank; Marjorie Finer from the Alliance of Hudson Valley Women Business Owners; Mildred Polite Smith, Compliance Officer for the New York State Comptroller's Office; Paul Quintero, CFO and COO of ACCION-a micro finance institution; and local business support group representatives.
Panelists will explain how their organizations can assist with small business challenges such as how to take an idea from conception to reality, how to write a business plan, where to get help with financing, how to set up a corporation, how to get certified to work for New York State, how to market on-line, where to turn for accounting and payroll advice, and more.
"Many of my constituents have approached me about resources for new business start-ups in the area," said Galef. "This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear first hand from not-for-profit, public and private institutions who offer specific help for entrepreneurs." Information is available to all, with a special focus on women and minorities.
The following organizations are co-sponsoring this forum: Women's Enterprise Development Center, Inc.
