Conservation Committee Hosts Septic Repair Program
Homeowners living near NYSDEP watershed lakes and streams are encouraged to attend a Public Information Meeting sponsored by the Kent Conservation Advisory Committee on Tues., April 29 at 7pm at the Lake Carmel Community Center. Ed Barnett, Watershed Information Coordinator for Putnam County, is scheduled to speak about the Septic Repair Program available to residents living within the watershed.
Homeowners living on eligible parcels of land - within 500' of the shoreline of reservoirs or 200' from area lakes and streams - may apply to have a Putnam County Health Department official perform a dye test which will determine whether a septic system is failed or not. Enhanced repairs to eligible failed systems will be performed free of charge to homeowners who then must agree to perform the required maintenance on the new system.
For further information about the meeting call KCAC chairman George Baum at (845) 225- 3942.
