Community Foundation of Dutchess County Announces 2008 Garden Party Honorees
The Community Foundation of Dutchess County is pleased to announce the Honorees for their 2008 Garden Party: Kip Bleakley O'Neill and Arthur L. Gellert. Scheduled for Sunday, October 5 from 3 to 6pm, the tented and catered event is presented to recognize these two local residents for their community service, while demonstrating the work of the Community Foundation in our area. The Garden Party will be hosted this year by Alex Reese and Alison Spear at their home, Obercreek, in Hughsonville, NY, located in Southern Dutchess County.
Kip Bleakley O'Neill devoted 28 years of her life to community service as a Dutchess County Legislator, 13 as Minority leader and was a leading advocate and chief lobbyist for the Arts and Libraries of Dutchess County. As a dedicated Legislator for her district, Kip represented her constituents with a strong voice, often changing the direction of county government. Kip's community activities have involved many organizations and boards including Family Services, YMCA, Springside Restoration and the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill. She currently serves on the Dutchess Community College Foundation Board of Trustees.
Arthur L. Gellert is president of Gellert & Klein, P.C., a 20 attorney firm with offices in Poughkeepsie and Purchase. At present, Arthur serves the State of New York as a member of the Taconic State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission. He is also a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Ninth Judicial District. Arthur has served as a member of the Boards of Directors of several banks. A past-president of the Dutchess County Bar Association, Arthur was the recipient of their first Distinguished Contribution Award in 2006. He has served his profession and the community as a member of many various organizations and professional associations throughout the region, and is a Past Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Community Foundation of Dutchess County.
