Cold Spring Girl Raises Money for Cat Shelter with Lemonade Stand
Inspired by adopting her cat, Sake, last year, Tess Foster, a fourth-grader from Cold Spring, spent four hours hosting a lemonade stand down by the water in Cold Spring recently. Along with the lemonade, she sold fresh-baked cookies and brownies, all for 25 cents each. When people saw that the money they were paying for the lemonade and cookies went to help the cats, many customers told Tess to keep the change.
Tess raised this money as a donation for the Mid Hudson Animal Shelter, for the care of the cats there. The next day, Tess presented the shelter with a $100 check. They were very happy and it made Tess feel really good that she was working to help these cats who do not have homes and live in the shelter.
The Mid Hudson Animal Aid is a no-kill, free-range cat shelter located off Route 9D in Beacon. You can find out more about them and see photos of some of their available animals a t www.midhudsonanimalaid.org. According to Tess "the cats look so happy there and it is really a cool place for them to live." Tess says that she is sure she will be doing this again to help the cats.
