Beacon Hebrew Alliance in Need of Donations to Recover Costs of Emergency Expense
Beacon Hebrew Alliance has had a large, unexpected expense in the form of a broken water line, which needed to be repaired. The Temple was dedicated in 1929, and a lot of the line was original. The shut off valve at the street did not work, so it was necessary to dig into Fishkill Avenue (closed the street for the day) to join a new line at the water main. The old line was made of cast iron with leather couplings that just wore out. The final bill will be about $18,000.
BHA is accepting donations to help recover the costs and to re-landscape in front of the synagogue where shrubs and grass had to be dug up. BHA will be most happy and appreciative of donations of money or plantings to repair the exterior look of the shul. For more information, please call the synagogue at 831-2012
