Dutchess Woman Charged With Unlicensed Driving
Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Dutchess County woman for driving while her license is suspended.
Deputy Sheriff Michael Sutherland was on patrol on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown on April 14, 2008 when he stopped a motorist for a moving violation. Upon investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, a resident of Hopewell Junction, New York had been driving while her license is suspended. The deputy arrested the woman and charged her with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was released in her own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
