Bridge Fever "River Run" Comes to Poughkeepsie

The Walkway Over the Hudson Organization and the Marathon Project, sponsored by the Council on Addiction, Prevention & Education of Dutchess County will host the Bridge Fever "River Run" on Saturday, June 21, 2008, along the City of Poughkeepsie waterfront.

The Bridge Fever "River Run" will consist of a 5K adult race and a one mile "Fun Run" for children. The objectives of the Bridge Fever "River Run" are to promote the Walkway Over the Hudson initiative, The Marathon Project sponsored by the Council on Addiction, Prevention and Education of Dutchess County, the Mid- Hudson Children's Museum, and the Poughkeepsie Waterfront. The race course was developed and measured by Pete Sanfilippo and will be timed by Vince Veltre, both of the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club.

Children up until the age of 13 will be allowed to participate in the one mile "Fun Run." There are three divisions for the "Fun Run." All other ages are invited to attend and there are seven divisions for the 5K run. There will be 1St, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for all divisions.

The "Bridge Fever River Run" will begin and end at Dongan Square & Mills Street, Poughkeepsie. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:45am on June 21. The children's "Fun Run" will begin at 8:30am and will be followed by the 5K race at 9am.

Please call Hugh Edmonds, (914) 498-1551 to inquire about pre-registering. The entry fee is $12 for adults and $8 for children. All pre-registered runners will receive t-shirts and all one mile participants will receive free admission into the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum.

If you wish to be a sponsor, contact Hugh Edmonds prior to May 30. Sponsors will have either their logos or names printed on all promotional materials including the race tshirts. Sponsors can give donations in the amount of $150, $250 or $350.
