The Flat Iron Gallery of Peekskill, will have a solo exhibit of watercolor and oil pastel paintings by Mt. Kisco artist and Westchester Arts Workshop professor, John Plunkett for the month of June. An artist's reception will be held Sunday, June 8 from 1-5 pm. There will also be a first Friday of the month celebration, Fri., June 6 from 5-8pm.
Plunkett has a B.F.A. in Fine Arts and Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and an M.F.A. in Fine Arts in Painting and Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. Plunkett's work has appeared in galleries all over the world, including the Populi Gallery in New York City and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Hanoi. His new landscapes for the Flat Iron Gallery are "dreamlike and soothing in their sensibility. Through precise brushwork, intensely focused use of color and a style following the path broken by the Impressionists, John Plunkett transports those who view his work into a beautiful, quiet place."
