Veltz Family Drives Mamapalooza 2008 Music Festival in Westchester
'Philipstowners' Motherlode and Kasey Morabito also on hand

Westchester County Parks and Office for Women present Mamapalooza 2008, Saturday, May 17 at Kensico Dam in Valhalla from 10am to 5pm. This Festival to Celebrate Women, Mothers and Families is the third annual to take place at the Dam.

Mamapalooza Festival in Westchester County - nationally known as the 'Festival for Moms Who Rock!' - has rocked the 'burbs to the tune of over 6,000 people over the last 2 years at Kensico Dam. This year, in partnership with the Westchester County Office for Women, the Festival invites women to enjoy a day of education and healing, music and the arts, health screenings and fitness activities - and shopping - to help them reclaim their "cool" through the power of self-expression and know-how. This is also a perfect destination for families, as there will be lots of action for the kids!

Featured on the main stage will be "America's Family Band" The Veltz Family, who are leading the Hudson Valley music scene through a bona fide renaissance. Since becoming residents of Cold Spring this past fall, the Veltz's have awakened countless creative souls in the surrounding Hudson Valley area by their generous musical offerings at the Listening Room on Thursday nights at the Depot Restaurant in Cold Spring.

MotherLode Trio, a founding member of this Mom Band movement Mamapalooza, will be featured as well, with the ever-tasteful talents of Art Labriola, former Cold Spring resident Mark Murphy, and special guests. Also of Cold Spring fame will be Kacey Morabito of WHUD, who will host the day for the third year in a row, along with Catherine Michaels, host of WHUD's 'Night Rhthyms'. Be sure to bring your blankets and lounge chairs to enjoy this music, dance presentations and more, in true festival style.

Learn how to start your own business, manage your money and navigate your way through insurance, retirement funds and other aspects of daily living during the "Power Babe" workshop. "Living Loud" provides tips for weathering and sailing through the various stages of a woman's sexual life, and teenage girls can learn the secrets of self-confidence during a selfesteem workshop. Other workshops include using eBay, household cleaning toxins and reading food labels.

Yoga classes for the whole family, soccer skills for the kids, Stroller Strides fitness classes for Mama and babe, are among the programs available at Mamapalooza to satisfy the needs of ever-restless little ones.

White Plains Hospital Center, Planned Parenthood, the YWCA and Greenburgh Health Center will offer screenings and information on various health topics. For a brief respite from the day's activities, stop by for a chair massage at the Riverspa tent or a rock 'n' roll makeover with Manic Panic makeup. Browse the more than morethan 30 vendors offering everything from handmade jewelry and gifts, dolls and greeting cards, to gift baskets and specialty tee-shirts, along with chef and catering services, many of which are owned or staffed by graduates and students of the Women's Enterprise Development Center.

Stacy Labriola,'s 'Music by Stacy', The Swing Set Mamas and Gigi and the Lend-a-Hand Band will entertain kids of all ages. Diaper relay races presented by Babies R Us will also take place on the kids' stage. There'll be children's health screenings and information available, a jumper castle, and chalk drawing on the plaza sidewalk. Members of the Westchester Arts Council will test kids' creativity during the Flipbook Fantasy Workshop.

Baked goods and refreshments will be for sale throughout the event, along with a variety of health and ethnic foods. Admission and parking are free; this is a rain or shine event.

Mamapalooza 2008 is presented by Westchester County Parks and the County's Office for Women to benefit the Motherhood Foundation, an organization that creates and presents visual, literary and performing arts events for mothers.
