Award-Winning Artist Rieko Fujinami to Give Slide Presentation and Talk at Howland Library

Artist Rieko Fujinami will give a slide presentation, Anonymous: the artist looks at Faces, about her work and art philosophy, at the Howland Public Library Community Room, on Thursday, May 15, 7pm. This event is co-sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts, from whom, in 2007, she received a NYFA Fellowship Award , a highly competitive cash prize made to individual artists living and working in the state of New York.

Ms. Fujinami creates art using many different media including etching, copper tempera, frottage/drawing, fresco secco, drawing on clear film, glass painting, and digital imaging. Her presentation will focus on her most recent frescos and film drawings, the philosophy behind her work, and a glimpse of her studio and working methods.

She was born in Kisarazu, Japan, and knew from a early age that she wanted to be an artist. She received her undergraduate degree from Creative Art University and Graduate degree from Tama Art University, both in Tokyo. She has lived and worked in Beacon since 2003.
