Grace M. Lyons

Grace M. Lyons, a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 5, 2008. She was 83 years old.

Grace was born in Cold Spring, on April 7, 1925 to Joseph and Grace (Schatzle) Lahey. On July 7, 1950 Grace married Gordon Lyons.

In addition to being a homemaker, Grace was the owner of Rosebud's Children's Store and in her later years also worked part time at Carolyn's Flower Shoppe in Cold Spring; a job which she loved. Grace volunteered many years for the Putnam County Unit of the American Cancer Society and also for Julia L. Butterfield Hospital.

She is survived by four children, Grace Lyons, Jr. of Cold Spring, Michael Lyons and his wife Teresa of Hopewell Junction, NY, Peter Lyons and his wife Kathleen of Jamestown, NC, and Roberta DellaCioppa and her husband Alfred of Hopewell Junction, NY. She will especially be missed by her nine grandchildren, Damon Perpetua, Nicholas Lyons, Mackenzie Lyons, Ally DellaCioppa, James Daniel Lyons, Michael Lyons, Jr., Hilary Lyons, Aaron DellaCioppa, and Nicholas DellaCioppa. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Grace is survived by her sister, Patricia Shea, and her brother, Terry Lahey, both of Cold Spring. She is predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Phillip, Bernie, and James Lahey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam, 540 White Plains Road, Suite 300, Tarrytown, NY 10591.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Wednesday May 7, at the Clinton Funeral Home, 21 Parrott St., Cold Spring. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 8 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St, Cold Spring, followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
