Harpist Joy Plaisted Visits St. Philip's Nursery School
As the soft musical notes fell gently on the air, St. Philip's three- and four-year olds listened in hushed appreciation. The magic of a large harp being played in their meeting circle held them spellbound.
The St. Philip's preschool was fortunate to have a visit recently from local harpist Joy Plaisted, who plays at church services and in area ensembles, as well as for weddings and other celebrations. She brought both her large upright harp and a smaller, "walking-around," or therapy harp, that the children found equally fascinating. Each child had a chance to pluck a few strings. "The strings make a pattern!" observed Evelyn Higbee. And stated Liliana Westerhuis, "The short strings make a different sound than the longer ones."
