Joelle Sklaar Earns Honors at Skidmore College

Joelle Sklaar, a member of the Class of 2011 at Skidmore College, received academic recognition at the college this spring. She is the daughter of Michael and Vera Sklaar, of Putnam Valley. Sklaar was selected for membership in the Honors Forum, which works to strengthen intellectual life at Skidmore and especially to encourage the academic aspirations of highly motivated and talented students. Formal membership in the Honors Forum is based on academic accomplishment.

Academic prizes were awarded during Honors Convocation, Skidmore's annual celebration of academic achievement. College President Philip A. Glotzbach, Dean of Studies Michael C. Ennis- McMillan, and Vice President for Academic Affairs Susan A. Kress were among those awarding prizes to students at the event, which took place this spring on campus.

Founded in 1903, Skidmore College is a coeducational, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,400 students. The college grants the bachelor's degree in 60 majors, including both traditional liberal arts disciplines and preprofessional programs. Skidmore also awards the master of arts in liberal studies degree.
