Haldane Lacrosse Gets Second Win of Season

Haldane Lacrosse, who have had a rough season of late, look to turn it around quickly. The Blue Devils had a rough past week, but managed to get a big win. The first game of the week pitted them against White Plains. White Plains is a powerhouse and top in Haldane's league, but the Devils played them strong for the first half. Freshman Matt Giachinta and Senior Captain Forest Kingsley each had a pair of goals. Senior Michael Thorpe had a goal. Junior Goaltender Justin Cornielius recorded 8 saves. The Blue Devils fell to White Plains 13-5.

Haldane's next opponent was Pearl River. In the first half, the Devils were down 6-2, looking to make a comeback. Giachinta had 3 points, 1 goal and 2 assists. Freshman Joe Scherer also recorded 3 points, with 2 goals and an assist . His brother, Peter Scherer also had a goal and 1 assist. Forest Kingsley had a career day, recording 5 points, 4 goals and an assist. Cornielius had 10 saves. The Devils fell just short to Pearl River 8-9.

Haldane's next game was against Ardsley. Throughout the whole game, Ardsley and Haldane were neck and neck. Giachinta just kept on scoring this week, getting a goal and 1 assist. Kingsley had 2 goals and 1 assist. Joe Scherer also had 2 goals. Both Brian Levine and Peter Scherer had 1 goal. Goaltender Cornielius had 8 saves. The Devils would prevail against Ardsley 7-6 for their second win of the season.

The Blue Devils look to finish the season strong, especially the seniors who are about to close out their high school lacrosse careers. The Blue Devils have games coming up against Arlington and North Salem. Come support your Haldane Blue Devils!
