Doris Jane Smith
Doris Jane Smith, 91, died Thursday June 12, 2008 after a brief illness. She was born August 30, 1916 in Kansas City, MO to Oliver and Evelyna Hicks Leonard. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and was active in her church, with her local Girl Scouts council.
Since moving to Garrison in 2002, she loved golfing with her friends at the Highlands Country Club. She is survived by her son Richard (Carmen) Smith of Garrison, daughter Karol (Kent) Middleton of Austin, TX, and sisters Mildred Holt of Galveston, TX and Barbara Wiitala of Okeechobee, FL. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Bradley Smith, Lydia McMahon, Irene Middleton and Helen Fekete, and great-grandchildren Conor McMahon and Sofia and Lauren Smith. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Leo W. in 2002, and 10 siblings.
Funeral Services are private. Arrangements entrusted to E.O. Curry Funeral Home, 313 N. James St. Peekskill.
