Planning a Garrison Reunion and Celebration
Plans are taking shape already for the beginning of the 2008- 2009 school year and a celebration of what makes this year special: it is the 100th anniversary of the building of the historic stone Garrison School House. A committee of alumni, former faculty, parents, Board members, and the Garrison administration is working hard to plan some very special events. On tap are an alumni reception on Friday, September 26 at the Highlands Country Club, and, on Saturday, September 27, a community-wide celebration and open house at the Garrison School. The highlight will be a reenactment of the cornerstone ceremony, with local dignitaries playing key parts and directed by Carolyn Copeland. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

Shown in the photo are two members of the planning committee. Don MacDonald is Philipstown's historian and a member of Garrison's Class of 1939. And, Minette Gunther retired from teaching third grade from the Garrison School a few years ago after touching the lives of hundreds of Garrison students; her two daughters also graduated from Garrison.
