Nelsonville Man Faces Charge of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Nelsonville resident for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.

On June 20, 2008 Deputy Michael Sutherland was on patrol on Main St. in the Village of Nelsonville he observed a black Volvo, driven by Joseph Foster, 43, of 9 Church St. Cold Spring, traveling in the opposite direction. The defendant was alerted by the plate reader in the patrol car that the vehicle's registration was suspended. The deputy stopped the vehicle and obtained the driver's information. At that time it was determined that Mr. Foster's license as well as vehicle registration was suspended. He was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd and Operating with a Suspended Registration. The defendant is due in Nelsonville Village Court on July 24, 2008 answer the charges.

If convicted of the misdemeanor charge the defendant could face up to 15 days in jail and/or a $250 fine.
