Montel Williams MS Foundation Holds 2nd Annual Westchester Walk at FDR Park to Defeat MS
Kids, families, dogs & work teams walk for multiple sclerosis research

The second annual Westchester walk-a-thon to benefit MS research will take place at 10am on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in FDR State Park at 2957 Crompond Road in Yorktown Heights.

The walkathon is organized by The Montel Williams MS Foundation, established by national talk show host and philanthropist Montel Williams, and chaired by Westchester residents Melanie McLaughlin, the foundation's president, and Sue Walsh, a CPA. The foundation will redistribute all monies raised by individuals for this event to multiple sclerosis research. Last year's event raised more than $112,000.

New features this year include a dog walk, kids' carnival and vendor fair. Walsh and McLaughlin, who did the walk last year with their families, say the new, festive additions to the event mean that no one need be left at home. Says Walsh, who like Williams lives with MS, "Whether you are a child, an entire family, a group of colleagues or the family pooch, you can contribute to MS research by coming out on September 21." Adds McLaughlin, "You can bring the entire household to the walk, so there's no excuse to stay home! And for those who are differently abled, you can walk or ride at your own pace."

Last year Williams kicked off the walk with an inspiring address to the crowd. Says Williams, "We enjoyed great participation from the community in 2007, and this year we look forward to even more support on behalf of the more than one million Americans like Sue and me who live with MS."

Fees are $40 for families with up to four children and two dogs, and $20 for individuals with up to two dogs. Vendor tables are available for $250. To register as a walker or a vendor, or for more information on how to become a sponsor, please visit www.montelms.org, or call (888) 324-2773 ext. 2. Proceeds go to The Montel Williams MS Foundation.
