Timothy Allen Walsh Receives Master of Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Commencement
Timothy Allen Walsh of Cold Spring received a Master of Science degree in computer science at the 140th Commencement exercises at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on May 17, 2008. A total of 1,089 degrees (738 bachelor of science, 333 master's, and 18 Ph.D.s) were awarded during the ceremony, which took place outdoors on the WPI Quadrangle. Thousands of students, their families and friends, trustees, and other special guests were on hand to experience inspirational messages delivered by keynote speaker Jeffrey R. Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric Co. (GE), and WPI President and CEO Dennis D. Berkey.
Founded in 1865 in Worcester, Mass., WPI was one of the first engineering and technology universities in the nation. WPI's 18 academic departments offer more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science, engineering, technology, management, the social sciences, and the humanities and arts, leading to the BS, MS, ME, MBA, and PhD.
