Howland Chamber Music Circle Announces New Season

For the sixteenth season the Howland Chamber Music Circle will be bringing outstanding musicians to the area. The chamber music series begins on September 14, 2008 with a performance by old friends of the Circle, the Brentano String Quartet, followed later by return engagements of the Calder, Pacifica and Daedalus String Quartets, cellist Zuill Bailey and baritone Thomas Meglioranza. They will be joined by notable newcomers to the series: percussionist Svet Stoyanov, who performed at the annual meeting of the HCMC in May 2007 and the early music trio Trefoil.

The Chamber Music Circle's wintertime piano series has been warmly received and has produced many memorable performances. Gilles Vonsattel and Till Fellner will return. New to the series is Frederic Chiu, who brings a diverse Asian/ American/European background to his performances.

Also presented by the Howland Chamber Music Circle is the much anticipated pre-Christmas tradition of the performance by Early Music New York at St. Mary's in the Highlands in Cold Spring.

Adult series subscriptions of 4 to 8 concerts are $110 to $185, the 3-concert piano series is $80 and the Holiday Concert $30. Student ticket are about half that. Single tickets are $ 30. All subscriptions and ticket orders can be made through the Circle's web-site: www.howlandmusic.org where also more detailed information can be found.
