Sandra Galef and the State Legislature has Built Bigger Deficits
Letter to the Editor

New York is sinking fast. It is embarrassing to think that we will have a $6.4 billion dollar deficit in 2009.

Obviously, Sandra Galef has failed to address the state's structural budget problems which create these annual deficits. What's more, she makes no attempt whatsoever to offer long-term solutions to keep spending under control. It is outlandish that the residents pay the highest taxation rate in the nation. It is also no surprise that people are moving out in droves.

Just last week, the New York Post wrote that ex-NYers are ripping off Medicaid millions. It stated that auditors from State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's office determined that nearly 30,000 people in NYC alone were improperly on the state's Medicaid rolls from November 2006 to November 2007, even while they were enrolled in Medicaid programs of other states.

This audit found that Millions are being spent on Medicaid services for residents living out of state.

My question is when will this stop?

Sandra Galef and the democratic controlled assembly have been unwilling make bold moves in the right direction. It is time to fix what is broken. We need solutions instead of talk.
