Thomas F. "Butch" Harris

Thomas F. "Butch" Harris, age 78, a long time resident of Cold Spring, died on September 1, 2008 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.

Born December 20, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Ernest and Anna (Craig) Harris.

A US Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, Mr. Harris was retired from the Laborers' International Union of North America, Local #235 in Elmsford, NY. He was also a self-employed painter and a 50-year member of Cold Spring Fire Co. #1.

Mr. Harris was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude (Coleman) Harris, in September 1999. They were married in Cold Spring on January 15, 1960. He is survived by three children, Michael Donnelly of Saratoga Springs, NY, Debbie Flaherty of Cold Spring, NY, and Judy Shroba of Sleepy Hollow, NY, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. One brother, Ernest Harris, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in the Highlands, 1 Chestnut St., Cold Spring, followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cor. Parrott & Pine Sts (21 Parrott St) Cold Spring on Wednesday, September 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Donations may be made in Mr. Harris' name to Cold Spring Fire Co. #1, 154 Main St., Cold Spring or Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 14 Cedar St., Cold Spring, NY 10516
