Annual Putnam County Columbus Day Parade Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Bringing a taste of Italy and Italian tradition to the Chamber Street Fair, the Italian American Club of Mahopac, celebrating their 80th anniversary, hosts this community event on Sunday, October 5, 2008.
The parade starts at 2:30pm at Lake Casse Road and Route 6 and ends at the Mahopac Chamber Community Park on Rt. 6N, where everyone will join the Community Street Fair and Merchants' Showcase, sponsored by The Greater Lake Mahopac, Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
The Grand Marshal is Judge Francis A. Nicolai and Honorary Grand Marshals are Giovanni Crecco and Annunziato Recine.
Keep Putnam Beautiful will participate, carrying a banner. They invite everyone to bring your kids and friends - bring a smile -bring a happy hat - bring a broom! The theme is Keep Putnam Beautiful...so use your imagination. Volunteers not "brooming" or just walking along smiling will be pushing/ pulling 4 Beautiful Trash Cans on 4 wheeled carts (now being made by Bill Zacontinsky, owner, East Road Motors, Carmel). Each 55-gallon drum is an original work of art done by local artists. All participants just need to show up at Lake Casse Road/Route 6 by 1:30 PM on October 5. Contact: Giulio Cefaloni, Chairman of Columbus Day Festivities, 845- 628-1641.
