Hudson Highlands Nature Museum's New Entrance Road to be Unveiled
Jonathan Kruk, Story Teller will tell the story of the Pied Piper of the Highlands at Family Celebration

"The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum and the Town of Cornwall have built a road that will provide safer, more convenient access to the Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center and the Town of Cornwall's new Angola Road Park," the Museum's Executive Director, Jackie Grant announced today.

To celebrate the completion and opening of the new road, local residents and museum members are invited to celebrate on Saturday, September 27 from 10:30am- 1:30pm, at the Museum's Fall Family Fun Day and New Road Grand Opening Ceremony.

Edward Diana, Orange County Executive, Kevin Quigley - Cornwall Town Supervisor, James Taylor -Taylor Recycling, who donated the base for the new road, David Redden - Museum Chairman, and George Muser - Museum Board Member and major donor to the road in honor of his father Curt Muser are expected to join in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The road will be named Muser Drive.

"This will be an historic moment in Cornwall and the Museum," commented Jackie Grant. "The Museum has been planning and raising funds for a new access road for a number of years. The current entrance is off busy Route 9W and we have been concerned for the safety of people using this entrance. We are so happy that the new entrance off of Angola Road is finally complete. It will make it much easier - and safer - for visitors to access the many programs we offer at our Outdoor Discovery Center location," continued Grant. Both entrances will remain open for a month; the 9W entrance will close permanently on October 27.

In conjunction with the Road Grand Opening, the Museum will host Fall Family Fun Day which will include a celebratory parade up the new Muser Drive to the ribbon-cutting location. The parade will be preceded by activities and a storyteller theater featuring the "pied piper of the Highlands" who will lead the parade. All children will receive a special prize.

Family Fun Day Schedule of Events

10:30- 11am - Activities, crafts and games; 11am - Faerie Tale Theater: "Pied Piper of the Highlands" by Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk; 11:30am - Piper-led parade up the Museum's new road to the Angola Road entrance where there will be prizes for children; 12pm - Ribbon cutting ceremony with comments by special guests; 12:15-1:30pm - Activities, crafts, games and guided mini-hikes will continue.

Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the grounds after the ceremony. There will be beverages and cupcakes available for purchase.
