Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam Hosts Annual Caring Circle Cocktail Party
On Saturday, September 20, 2008, over 170 guests gathered at Stony Acres Farm in Pound Ridge for the 11th Annual Caring Circle Cocktail Party to benefit Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam's bereavement programs. This year's party was held at Stony Acres Farms, the home of John and Marsha Chambers, and was chaired by Taylor and Aaron Taylor of Pound Ridge.
The event raised over $40,000 for Hospice Care's Caring Circle Children's Bereavement Program, the Maggie Rose Perinatal Bereavement Support Program and Hospice's Adult Bereavement Services. All of Hospice Care's bereavement services are offered, at no cost, to residents of Westchester and Putnam who have lost a loved one in this community.
Wine and hors d'oeuvres were served as guests mingled throughout the spacious courtyard, and beautifully kept home and landscaped property. A special treat for this year's guests was a collection of prized antique cars on display in the courtyard.
Returning to this year's event was the Take a Chance game with a new twist. Guests bought tickets to place in baskets for corresponding prizes, and at the end of the night, winners were drawn for each prize. Donated prizes included a digital camera, gift certificates to local restaurants, an iPod shuffle, and a fishing trip, among others.
Bedford Wine Merchants, Mt. Kisco Wine & Spirits, Maria & George Roach supported the event and John & Marsha Chambers opened their hearts and their home in support of Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam.
The Caring Circle meets biweekly in Yorktown Heights and Yonkers and is open, at no cost, to all children in our area who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Under the guidance of counselors specifically trained to deal with childhood grief, The Caring Circle children participate in activities such as art and music that encourage self-expression and help them heal from their loss. Annually, over 300 children and families participate in The Caring Circle.
