Enjoy Free Fall Events at Scenic Hudson Parks Self-guided "ParkQuests" encourage exploration anytime
Let the beauty and drama of fall in the valley motivate you to join some fun events in Scenic Hudson parks. The outings also offer lessons about how preserved land helps the environment - from enhancing water and air quality to protecting wildlife habitat to helping working farms to combating climate change and more.
Locally, on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2- 5pm, prior to Cold Spring's Halloween parade, come to Foundry Dock Park (near the Metro-North station) and carve your own pumpkin. Scenic Hudson will provide the pumpkins and tools as well as refreshments. After the parade come back to Foundry Dock Park to watch the second annual jack-o'-lantern flotilla from the Hudson's shoreline.
Other events include:
Thursday, Oct. 16, from 10am- 12:30pm - Mount Beacon Morning Ranger Hike - a Scenic Hudson park ranger will lead this very challenging threemile hike to the top of Mount Beacon. Besides enjoying breathtaking views, you'll learn about the mountain's rich history.
Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9am- 2pm- Fishkill Ridge Hawk Watch, while the hawks and falcons soar overhead, enjoy spectacular views and challenging rock scrambles during this six-mile trek from Fishkill Ridge to the summit of Mount Beacon - another Scenic Hudson park.

Thursday, Nov. 20, from 10am- noon - Madam Brett Park Morning Ranger Hike, Beacon - Enjoy an easy onemile fact-filled nature hike along the Fishkill Creek to the shore of the Hudson River. You'll want to keep an eye out for eagle sightings.
The ParkQuests created for Scenic Hudson's summer parks festival were such a hit, they've made them available to everyone. The guides are a fun, educational way to experience the history, ecology and wildlife habitats at four of Scenic Hudson's most popular parks. The guides are downloadable at www.scenichudson.org/ parkquests.
