Free All-Day Workshop on Natural Health and Healing For Women With Cancer
Support Connection, Inc., a non-profit organization offering free, confidential support services and programs to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, presents "Approaches to Natural Health and Healing" on Saturday, November 8, from 9 am - 3:30 pm at Soundview Preparatory School, 370 Underhill Ave, Yorktown Heights, NY. This full-day interactive workshop, offering natural methods to aid in recovery and healing for cancer survivors, will be presented in two parts.
The morning session will be led by MaryBeth Augustine, RD, CDN. Ms. Augustine is a registered Dietitian and New York State Certified Nutritionist specializing in natural nutrition. She is also an 18-year cancer survivor. Her program will provide up-to-date information on nutrition and its effect on recovery and healing as a cancer survivor.
Ms. Augustine's expertise includes cancer-fighting foods and oncology, natural pain killers and hormonal disorders. She is a highly sought-after presenter whose presentation highlights include speaking at the United Nations, the American Institute for Cancer Research, Cancer Care, the Omega Institute and the Center for Mind/ Body Medicine. She has appeared on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Discovery and Fox 5 News.
The afternoon session, entitled "The Energy to Heal," will be led by Marcy Kniffin, LCSW, Reiki Master/Teacher. Ms. Kniffen will teach techniques from the leading-edge fields of Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine. She will help participants learn new skills to boost their ability to self-heal.
Ms. Kniffin is an experienced trainer who has taught at IBM, Fuji Film, the National Networker Conference, and the National Association of Social Workers Conference. Her focus is mind/body medicine, using the power of the mind to positively influence health. She is a candidate for certification in Mind/Body Medicine in Spring '09 from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine.
This program is open to all women living with cancer. Lunch is included. Participation is free but advance registration is required.
