Westchester Man Charged With Grand Larceny, Criminal Mischief

Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Westchester County man who destroyed property at the residence of his ex-girlfriend in Putnam Valley.

On September, 25, 2008 at 1pm, Deputy Sheriff Edward Kennedy, Sergeant Michael Szabo, and Criminal Investigators Jeffery Devolve and John Matrician investigated a complaint from a Putnam Valley woman alleging that her exboyfriend Glenn M. Tegeler, 41, of 24 Lent Avenue, Montrose, New York had destroyed items of property and stole a large television set from her residence. The woman further reported that Mr. Tegeler had contacted her via telephone several times and advised her of the mess that she was going to need to clean up at her residence.

Mr. Tegeler was contacted and agreed to meet with the officers, and admitted that he had committed the acts against the woman, Mr. Tegeler was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, felonies, and with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Joseph Spofford and released in his own recognizance pending a future appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court to answer the charges.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face up to four years in a New York State correctional facility and a fine of up to $5,000.
