| Thirty-eight artists will exhibit original works in various mediums at the 48th Annual Hudson Valley Hospital Center Auxiliary Ball, on Oct. 18, at Boscobel Restoration and Gardens in Garrison. Three of the featured artists — Elaine Galen of Mount Kisco, Anne Johann of Croton-on-Hudson and Andrew Lattimore of Cornwall Heights — will also attend the event. Their artwork features the view from Boscobel, as seen through their eyes.
All original works, including paintings, photographs, and sculptures with Hudson River Valley themes, will be available for purchase or donation to the hospital's growing fine art collection. The artists are participating in HVHC's Art For Health program, in which eleven gallery spaces will be designated throughout the hospital.
The theme of this year's gala is "A River Rendezvous," as the evening celebrates nature and the hospital's commitment to incorporate the latest technologies into a healing environment. Gala honorees are New York State Senator Vincent L. Leibell, R-Patterson, Croton on-Hudson residents Sheila Drogy and Patricia Morrow, and the Hudson Highlands Land Trust of Garrison.
Boscobel, a magnificent early 19th-century home, stands on a high bluff overlooking the Hudson River, West Point and the Hudson Highlands. The view from Boscobel has been painted for centuries, and has long been a favorite of artists. The black-tie event will begin with cocktails and silent auction at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 7 p.m., catered by Abigail Kirsch, and dancing, with music provided by the Robert Mitchell Orchestra.
Tickets cost $500 each and all proceeds will benefit the Hospital's Building on Excellence campaign, to support its $110 million expansion project. For tickets or information about sponsorships and journal advertisements, please call the Foundation Office at 914-734- 3862 or visit www.hvhc.org.
