Galef's Position Not to Accept Member Items is Significant
Dear Editor:

There is one person in the state legislature that has been talking about the "member item" or "pork" state program for several years. That is Sandy Galef. She has consistently called for the member item program to be cut form the state budget saving our taxpayers at least $200 million dollars. Because she believes that the distribution of funds can be used for political purposes or disbursed to inappropriate organizations, Sandy has refused to participate in the program herself.

Given the economy and the cuts proposed in the state budget, Sandy's position not to accept pork is even more significant. I hope that other state legislators will take her lead so that we can save $200 million in our state budget and help our overburdened taxpayers.

Sandy Galef is a leader on this issue, as she is on so many others. I urge you to support her on November 4, as I will.
