Putnam Valley High School Math Honor Society Spearheads Successful Pajama Drive
Pictured, left to right: PVHS Mu Alpha Theta honor society members Lauren McIntyre, Julie Castro, Janelle Herelle, and Jenna Isabella sorting and packing pajamas to be delivered to families in need. Putnam Valley High School's clubs and honor societies worked overtime this holiday season to help others. The PVHS chapter of the Mu Alpha Theta math honor society was a big part of this effort. Co-Advisors Jerri Cohen and Melissa Rossano and their crew worked hard once again this year to collect pajamas for The Pajama Program. Mu Alpha Theta member Julie Castro was the chairperson of this year's drive.
On Friday, December 5, student members packed up the pajamas—over 50 pairs. PVCSD Board of Education Trustee Guy Cohen delivered the Putnam Valley shipment to the central collection point in Ardsley and also helped to sort and box children's books and pajamas. Susan Lunden, Westchester Coordinator for the Pajama Program (more info at www.pajamaprogram.org ), wrote this thank you on December 17th to the PVHS group: "Monday evening you ROCKED the Ardsley Community Center! 79 boxes of new pajamas and new books were distributed to Westchester Receiving Organizations. Your time, effort and good cheer reduced a large task to a manageable one. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!"
