Nationally Known Writers Read Their Work at The Chapel of Our Lady
The Sunset Reading Series brings Hudson Valley writers of national renown to Cold Spring. The 2009 season will feature poet and best-selling memoirist Nick Flynn, novelist Valerie Martin, and poets Edwin Torres and Jeffrey McDaniel.
The line up is as follows:
-May 10 - Jeffrey McDaniel, NEA Fellow and author of four poetry collections, most recently The Endarkenment (University of Pittsburgh Press), explores the fine line between academia and spoken word.
-June 7 - Nick Flynn, author of two poetry collections and a memoir, excavates the terrain between prose and poetry.
-Sept 13 - Valerie Martin, author of eight novels, including Mary Reilly, which was made into a feature film, will read from her new novel The Confessions of Edward Day.
-Oct 4 - Edwin Torres, author of several poetry collections and a CD, has performed his work throughout the country and actively blurs the boundaries between poetry, theater, and music.
All readings take place at 4pm and are free to the general public and take place at The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration, a beautiful 19th century historical building situated on the banks of the Hudson River. The Chapel is adjacent to the Cold Spring Metro-North train station where there is also free parking on the weekends.
A wine and cheese reception will follow each reading and books will be available for purchase and signings.
