Robert A. Engstrom

Robert A. Engstrom, 68, died on May 9, 2009. He was born February 15, 1941, in DeKalb, IL, son of the late David and Marian (nee Larson) Engstrom. On August 25, 1962 in Illinois, he married Janet Thompson; Mrs. Engstrom survives at home.

Robert received his Bachelors in Music and Theater from Northern Illinois University, and then his Masters and a MFA at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Robert taught at many colleges; among them are Elmira College, Herbert Lehman College, and St. Johns University.

He worked in many aspects of theatre; he was lighting designer and production manager of the Erick Hawkins Dance Co. in Manhattan and also was a founder of the Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill. Bob loved everything about the fine arts: music, theater, dance, to name a few.

Along with his wife, of Garrison; Bob is survived by his son, Erik Engstrom and his wife Jeanna; and his daughter: Anna Loeb and her husband Nathan of South Salem, NY. He is also survived by his brother, Norman Engstrom of Illinois, and his two grandsons: Jakob and James Loeb; and four nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13 from 7-9pm and on Thursday, May 14 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, 313 North James Street, Peekskill, where at 8pm on Thursday, a funeral service will be held in Robert's memory. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 785 Mamaroneck Rd, White Plains, NY 10605.
