Smalley's Inn on Gleneida Avenue is steeped with the rollicking history of Carmel, more so than any other structure in the hamlet. Besides feeding residents and visitors since 1852, Smalley's has served variously—and sometimes simultaneously—as the town's hotel, bank, saloon, and morgue.
