Former Local Resident Sallie Motch Publishes Book

Sallie M. Motch, Ph.D., longtime resident of Cold Spring has published her first book, Palestine: A Look Inside. In 2002 Dr. Motch traveled to Hebron, Palestine, to volunteer as a psychologist with Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres or MSF). Palestine: A Look Inside is an account of her time spent working with individuals and families suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, through her letters home, personal commentary, and a yearlong writing project she implemented with a group of ninth-grade girls using a social justice framework to bring about healing through the act of witnessing.

Palestine: A Look Inside is available for purchase at bookstores and through the publisher's web site, www. booklocker.com/books/4320

Sallie Motch has been a clinical psychologist in private practice, working with adults, children, families, and couples. Her areas of specialization include medical illness, grief/bereavement, trauma, and multicultural/ cross cultural issues.

In 2007, she moved from Cold Spring and is now just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, not far from where she was born and raised.
