Early Music Group Celebrates a Renaissance Christmas

The Howland Chamber Music Circle will again present the internationally renowned ensemble Early Music New York at St. Mary's in the Highlands in Cold Spring. This outstanding Early Music group under the direction of Frederick Renz, is in residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and thrills audiences worldwide with scintillating performances of music and music drama from the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.

EMNY presents an annual New York season before soldout audiences and regularly tours throughout the United States and the world and has won critical and audience acclaim at many of the most prestigious festivals.

For his male vocal ensemble and instrumentalists Mr. Renz has selected both well known favorites as well as rarely heard gems from the 15th and 16th centuries. They will present carols, noels, and motets emenating from European sacred and secular rituals.

This extraordinary concert will be presented under the auspices of the Howland Chamber Music Circle, but, because a larger hall is needed and the appropriateness of the setting, the concert will take place at St. Mary's in the Highlands Episcopal Church, at the corner of Main Street and Route 9D in Cold Spring, on Sunday, December 6, at 4pm.

A reception to meet the artists will follow the performance.

Tickets are $30 ($10 for students) and can be reserved by calling 297-9243.
