Silent Pandora's Box Screens with Musical Accompaniment
The Butterfield Library's popular Silent Film Series with live musical accompaniment continues with Pandora's Box (1928) starring Louise Brooks on Saturday, January 30, at 7pm.
Considered director G.W. Pabst's masterpiece, Brooks plays the irresistible LuLu, a cabaret star who entices and destroys all men who cross her path until she finally meets her match—Jack the Ripper. This intense and dramatic story line is made all the more powerful by Pabst's luscious photography. The performance by Louise Brooks is considered one of the best in cinematic history.
Cary Brown will once again be providing musical accompaniment and will improvise an original score for this silent film as he has with all the films in the free series.
When not performing with his own jazz trio, The Cary Brown Trio, Brown is busy recording, writing, and performing for a wide variety of projects.
The Library is located at 10 Morris Avenue, near the intersection of Routes 9D and 301.
