‘A Miracle’ in Garrison Head-on Crash

Police are calling it a miracle that no one was killed or even seriously injured in a headon crash along Route 9D in Garrison.
The mishap occurred last Wednesday, before the winter storm hit, when according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department a southbound Land Rover operated by Kevin Hartman of Garrison went out of control around 8am in the vicinity of Route 403 on the icy pavement and plowed head on into a Toyota pickup operated by Rodney Fetter, of Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
Captain William McNamara said deputies and investigators rushed to the scene and Garrison Fire Department personnel under the command of Chief Kyle Irish also responded, along with the Garrison Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a paramedic from the TransCare Ambulance Corps.
Hartman, who suffered a laceration to his head, and Fetter, who police said received only superficial cuts and abrasions, were both taken to Hudson Valley Hospital Center for treatment.
Both vehicles were mangled beyond recognition. Sheriff’s Investigator Nick DePerno said it was a “miracle that no one was killed.”
