When in Debt, New York . . . Digs a Deeper Hole
For 100 years, those who live in Cold Spring’s waterfront area near the boat club have lived on top of what we are now told is contaminated soil. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has proposed excavating the pollutants left by a gas factory there in the 1800s. The project is estimated to cost $1,632,600.
